We don’t have to give out all our secrets but the more information you provide to employees the better, simply be careful not to give them information which is so interesting that they spend all their time analysing it (paralysis by Analysis).

Show them their targets and comparisons against their colleagues and reward the top performers (either individually or departmentally). Operational KPI’s should be clearly visible to all employees who are in a position to improve performance. Very often, these ‘lowly’ employees have great ideas or even point out why the measure needs to be re-evaluated as it’s no longer and effective way of measuring their process.
